Magee Theme

Postby garykevinware » 29 April 2010, 1:15 am

In the Magee Theme, complimentarily dedicated to J.F. Magee, who in Philadelphia, 1913, founded the Good Companion Chess Club, which became a problem organization of six hundred members, four interferences are caused by two Black pawns. Three such interferences comprise the "Magee Junior" Theme.

4 points for showing me each of the variations involving defenses by the black pawns. There is also a bonus problem under Knight Wheel, worth a possible 8 points, and so 12 points are possible this week. Send your solutions to me at garykevinware@yahoo.com , by next Wednesday.

Previously, under Newspaper Columns, I gave a link to the first of Paul Morphy's New York Ledger columns, at chesscafe.com . At the time, they only had 26 of his 52 columns, but today, they published number 27, and so I am hopeful that they will finish publishing all of Morphy's columns. You can find them at http://www.chesscafe.com/archives/skittarch.htm.
